A carrier built from a fabric that changes the carrying experience from first contact — this velvet soft-structured carrier is upholstered throughout in a short-pile velvet fabric that is measurably softer against newborn skin than woven cotton canvas or standard polyester, with a dense, cushioned surface that resists pilling and maintains its finish through repeated daily use and washing.

Velvet’s tight, uniform pile construction gives it a natural thermal quality — it retains a gentle warmth without generating the bulk or weight of fleece or bouclé alternatives, making it a practical choice across cooler months and transitional seasons alike. The carrier body and padded shoulder straps share the same velvet finish throughout, including across the heavily padded cross-back harness visible in image 4 — four substantial padded tubes that cross the wearer’s upper back to distribute weight symmetrically across both shoulders without concentrating pressure at any single point. Seat-width adjustment is achieved via antique brass press-stud snap buttons positioned at either side of the carrier body panel, visible in close detail in images 5 and 6 — a fastening choice that is both silent and intuitive, allowing the seat to be narrowed for a cocoon newborn hold or widened as the baby develops. The fold-over hood panel, also snap-fastened, provides adjustable head and neck support for young babies. The waist belt uses a black webbing side-release buckle at the front.
